Why did you start pole dancing?

I started pole dancing when I was 49 because I was bored with my regular work out. I participated in my 1st pole dance competition called Pacific Pole Championship last week and placed 2nd.

Why do you love pole dancing?

Pole dancing is a good release for me. It’s a time where I close the outside world out and embrace my sensual side. I love the fact that pole sisters support and empower each other 100%. It’s a great bond, every time I leave the studio I feel like a strong sexy goddess!

Why did you start pole dancing?

Well I was just shy of my 49th birthday when I started pole dancing. I had begun to get serious about my health and fitness about eight months before I found pole. I saw my 50th birthday approaching and I decided that I needed to make some changes in my life, emotionally and physically. I had homeschooled my Autistic daughter and now she was in college. I finally had some “me time”. Pole was the perfect solution!

Why do you love pole dancing?

Whoa! I could write a book on this! First of all when I dance I am able to release or feel a lot of emotions that words cannot express. It is such a physical release of so many emotions that words don’t do justice, only my heart and body understand. But bringing up the subject of my body leads me to the second most important reason I love pole dancing. I am a spinal cord injury survivor. My dura mater was punctured by my vertebrae at C 5/6. My surgery was May 2016 and I was 50. Because being pole fit put me in a good physical condition my recovery was so much easier. I also have Ankylosing Spondylitis and several other degenerative conditions so staying mobile is essential to my well being. I am so thankful for pole and the pole community. So many wonderful people have supported me.

Why did you start pole dancing?

I started pole at age 59 to offset the beginning of Osteoporosis and it has worked.

Why do you love pole dancing?

I love pole for so many reasons. Staying in shape has always been important to me and pole fitness is a fantastic workout that develops core strength as well as flexibility. However, my greatest motivation is my mission to in some way make a small difference in the lives of others. I love creating uplifting choreography based on the muse of transformation and personal empowerment.

The stage is a perfect a platform to share stories that inspire others to not let age or any limitation keep them from passionately going after their dreams

Why did you start pole dancing?

Took my first Pole dancing class at 53 years old. Just saw an ad on it and decided to give it a shot. Fell in love with the dancing and fitness part of it instantly. Before I knew it, I was taking 3 various classes a week, quit my membership at the gym, and this was my total workout.

Why do you love pole dancing?

I love Pole dancing/fitness because I am able to execute my current mood and emotions into the dance. I don’t need to do fancy tricks, nor do I even need to be a great dancer. I can just be me, because I am dancing for me. End result is a fit body, and empowerment!

Why did you start pole dancing?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and in 2007-2009 after treatment was regaining my strength and after I started dancing in 2009 by 2012 I wanted to try pole and I saw a Groupon and went by myself.  It was magnetic and I was addicted and have been a poler ever since!  I just completed my 14th competition at PPC with 2 herniated discs, degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis.  It took 10 spinal epidural shots in order to almost complete the routine.  I will go back in August one more time, and then must succumb to surgery.  It was not pole that did this, it actually has postponed it – chemo sped up the aging process and pole reversed it!

Why do you love pole dancing?

I love it because I am free to express myself and stronger than I have ever been before.

Why did you start pole dancing?

I actually started pole when I was recovering from breast cancer, I am a dancer and couldn’t find a dance class locally for adults that wasn’t beginners and a friend suggested pole and I am so glad she did, even my specialist who was skeptical at first because I had limited arm movement from treatment was amazed at how quickly it helped in not only my physical recovery but also my mental and social.
Where else do we find such a diverse range of wonderful women, all doing their own thing to their own abilities and forming life long friendships?

Why do you love pole dancing?

There are so many reasons I love pole, it has become my escape, my “me” time that provides fitness, fun and amazing friendships. Coming from a dancing background it also give me my artistic and performance hit that makes every pole day a good day

How could I not? I mean, have you seen it?? I’ve always been a Batman fan. Always wanted a brass pole in my house. It was just a matter of time.

Why do you love pole dancing?

I always wanted to do calisthenics but I did ballet because I wasn’t strong enough. I’ve always loved dancing, but I gave up my figure for a physics degree and wanted to get it back. Pole is great. When I’m super stuffed and want to fall over, there’s the pole, right there. Taking care of me.

  1. This is so awesome! I’m 53 and I’m inspired by polers of All ages… but have a special place in my heart for a plus 50 poler ?? Thanks So Much for sharing. I follow many of them but now I have some more to look forward to ??

  2. It was a fascinating joy to see these fantastic women and men really enjoying themselves.Their pole skills were amazing and to see my friend,Eris featured as one of these
“SENSATIONAL SENOIRS “was a added treat.Pole also has done great health benefits for so many of them and others and they speak so beautifully about their community
    of friends around the world.

  3. Thanks for this! I love to challenge preconceptions like you have to be young and fit to pole. One of my favorite things about teaching pole is showing beginners they’re stronger than they think and they can do more than they expect. I started poling at 58, opened my studio at 61. I might not progress as fast as my younger friends but I do get stronger and learn new tricks all the time.

  4. Very inspiring! I’m 52 (?) and have been into pole fitness for a year now. Sometimes I get frustrated because when I can’t make it to classes for weeks at a time I find myself back at the beginning. But it’s so addictive and empowering that I’ll keep returning.

  5. I’m 59 and started at 56. I started Pole dancing because a friend recommended it. I took a private lesson to explore and have been hooked ever since.
I love pole because I can do something hard, expressive, and it gets me in shape. I am the strongest and most muscular I’ve ever been. I’ve competed twice now and have overcome stage fright and body image issues. I am proving that age is just a number!

  6. Awesome!!! I want to start but no locations near me , may have to travel. I hear it’s the best work out for the entire body. Ladies and Gentlemen keep it up!! You guys are awesome!!!

  7. Just what.I needed!!! Started at 53, now 56 and it just gets better and better. I cry, I try, I laugh – you name it. I experience a myriad of emotions but I love. Truly a life altering and life enhancing experience.???

  8. I seriously love your site.. Pleasant colors & theme.
Did you make this amazing site yourself? Please reply back as I’m wanting to create my own personal
blog and would love to learn where you got this from or what the theme is named.
    Thank you!
